No42 by GuestHouse, Margate

I was at this guesthouse a couple of weeks ago and it is so nicely done, very appealing decor. It is a 10 minute walk from the margate train station, right along the coast with beautiful skylines. The entrance is tucked away neatly at the back so the rooms can have the Seaview which I think is a brilliant idea! You can arrange for the hotel guy to pick up your luggage from the train station while you stroll along the coast. On arrival, I was welcomed at the reception which has a mini bar alongside it. I got my keys and headed to my room, opened the door and walked into the beautiful space clean, modern and warm. I had time to sit on the balcony and enjoy the views, this guesthouse has some gems like the lower level meeting room space, the rooftop bar, the spa, pearly cow restaurant etc The pantry is so cool! It has every lovely item from fruits, to crisps, ice creams, pastries, cakes etc such a fantastic idea. The shower was beautiful with good water pressure. Loved the radio and disc player The breakfast I thoroughly enjoyed with fresh produce and it was well cooked. Had some freshly baked pastries as well. The air conditioning in the rooms was fantastic, only issue as the room phone which doesn't dial to the reception but this has been highlighted and will be looked into. Otherwise, nice gem and I would recommend

Beautiful hotel, central location and very nice, accommodating staff. The room was gorgeous, clean and quiet. Both the rooftop bar and in-house restaurant (The Pearly Cow) are very picturesque. The pantry on the second floor with complimentary cake and pick n mix are a really nice touch! The breakfast was not as high standard as we were expecting, and the bathrooms next to reception were in need of a clean / bins to be emptied, but otherwise a very enjoyable stay!

Just wonderful hotel that totally love dogs. Everything is perfect. We stayed in the large guest room with a sea view which was amazing. Breakfast was delicious too and they gave the dogs a sausage each as well. We had cocktails on the terrace and watched the sun go down. Thank you to all the team.

Everything about my stay was simply perfect. From the moment I arrived, the warm welcome set the tone, I immediately felt at home. One of the highlights was the honesty bar: a lovely selection of cakes, sweets, and non-alcoholic drinks, all complimentary. Such a thoughtful and generous touch. My room was beautifully decorated, stylish yet cozy. The bed was incredibly comfortable, and the pillows were delightfully fluffy. The bathroom was great too, clean and elegant, though I did notice there was nowhere in the shower to place toiletries, which was a small inconvenience. The rooftop bar was another great feature, a cool, relaxed spot to unwind with a nice view. All in all, a truly wonderful place that I would absolutely recommend and can’t wait to return to.

No. 42 is a real gem in Margate — by far one of the standout places to stay in the area. The interiors are beautifully designed with real attention to detail, and the terrace is the perfect spot for drinks while people-watching. The rooms are thoughtfully kitted out — the tote bag and beach towels were such a nice, practical touch. One lovely surprise was the well-stocked guest pantry, complete with sweet treats, fruit, and even ice cream — such a generous and welcoming idea. Breakfast was delicious, served in a gorgeous setting, and the whole experience felt relaxed yet refined. My only regret is not checking ahead — I didn’t realise the restaurant and rooftop bar aren’t open all week, so I felt I missed out a little there. I’d love to come back and experience it in full next time. Highly recommend — this place has soul, style, and proper hospitality.
